SALT+WATER: Sea, Straits, and Sound
Welcome to Swan School Adventures Home for 2008-2009!
We have a wonderful year in the making! Lucky for students, we have TWO TRIPS planned, as well as monthly field work in and around our local area. Living surrounded by the Pacific Ocean, the Straits of Juan de Fuca, and the Puget Sound, we’ll be exploring saltwater themes this year.
In order to integrate our adventures inside and outside the classroom, we’ll start with a Trip to the SEA. October 15 – 17, we’ll be doing a three-day, two-night backpacking adventure to learn more about the Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary. Our spring trip, scheduled for late March or early April, is slated to include sea kayaking, sailing on a historic ship, exploring the Straits of Juan de Fuca, the San Juan Islands, and the Puget Sound.
